Another Busy Day in Riverhead

FEBRUARY 05 - On Thursday, February 4th, at 3:41pm the Riverhead Fire Department was activated for a reported Signal-13, smoke coming from a trailer, at the mobile home park on Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue. First arriving chief 6-2-30 discovered it was just heavy steam coming from a dryer vent. A Signal-5, return to quarters, was transmitted at 3:59pm.

Back-to-Back Chimney Fires

FEBRUARY 03 - On Tuesday, February 2nd, at 5:20pm the Riverhead Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Signal-23, chimney fire, on Victor Street in Aquebogue. After ground ladders were set, a birds nest was discovered inside the chimney cap, and the fire was put out. Fire at Tanger One

FEBRUARY 02 - On Tuesday, February 2nd, at 10:23am the Riverhead Fire Department  was called out to a Signal-23, dumpster fire, to the rear of Tanger Outlet Center, section one. Shortly after its arrival, first due Engine 6-2-2 went to work knocking down the flames. Second arriving Engine 6-2-14 assisted by supplying additional water to that apparatus, and by setting-up a ladder. Chiefs 6-2-30 and 32 were on-scene ... (Full Story & Photos)

Fatal Bus/Car Crash on Route 51

FEBRUARY 02 - On Monday, February 2nd at 7:46am the Riverhead Fire Department responded to a reported Signal-23, heavy rescue, at the intersection of County Route 51 (Center Drive) and County Route 63 (Lake Avenue). Upon arrival we found that a Southbound transit bus had hit a car on the drivers side. There was one male victim in the car. All RFD units were released at 9:53am.

Kitchen Fire in Retirement Park

JANUARY 30 - On Friday, January 29th, 2010 at 6:57pm, the Riverhead Fire Department was activated for a reported Signal-13, kitchen fire, at McLeod's Retirement Park on Riverleigh Avenue, in Riverside. Upon arrival it was discovered to be an oven that would not turn off. The gas and electric lines to the stove were shut off, and the fire went out. All apparatus were returned to quarters by 7:19pm.
