Always Remember
Compactor Fire at Tanger Outlets

By web team
February 27, 2010

On Saturday night, at 8:34pm, the Riverhead Fire Department was activated for a Signal-23, dumpster fire, behind suite #304, at Tanger Outlets, section One.

Upon our arrival, we found it to be a cardboard compactor on fire. The unit was tightly compressed, and was almost full. Firefighters went to work at both ends, pulling out the contents, trying to get to the smoldering fire. After much time digging, we had a visual on the seat of the fire, and doused it with firefighting foam.

All units were released by 9:32pm.

Firefighter Josh Berezny poses for the camera, after manning the foam-line tip in some very tight quarters.
